The naughty little minx is history. I’m actually surprised. While Kelli’s performances have been lack luster the past few weeks, I really thought her cute factor would keep her in the fray for another week or two. Oh well, such is life. I loved her classy good bye. She needs to go back to NC so he can stay sweet. Otherwise Hollywierd will chew her up and spit her out.
So, I am definitely going to do the first line contest, so start sharpening those first lines. I probably won’t start taking submissions until next week. I want to promote the contest. I have a really good grand prize I’m working on but I have to wait to announce it, coz, well, it may not come to fruition. But if that falls through, I’ll have a great prize package nonetheless. :cheerleader:
So stand by.
Now, I must get back to my writing.

Andrea Bocelli is really an amazing talent, too bad the Idols are coming across flat. Is it me or were last year’s contestants more exciting? Or are this year’s just so booooring?
Ok, so let’s begin with Kat: She looked incredible, well except for that unsightly panty line. I thought her singing was pitchy.
Elliott: I think Elliott looked the best he’s looked all season and he sang well too. But I just can’t get past his ‘Frisky the Bear’ look. LoL the nickname courtesy of Amy’s son.
Um, is Paula on crack? Her tears are so irksome.
Kelli: Adorable but methinks this may be her last week.
Paris: She done good.
Taylor: He sounded safe to me tonight. There are so many perfect songs for him to pick. Not sure why he picks the ones he does.
Chris: OK, I have a confession to make. I was chatting with my MSW’s girls and didn’t pay attention to him. Hubby says he did really well, the best in fact.
So there it is. I predict Kelli is gone. Maybe even Katharine.
Now on to the contest. I am going to do a best first line. Probably start Monday. So polish them up. I’ll announce the rules and prize tomorrow.
So, who do y’all think will hit the dust tomrrow night?

Checking in. First of all , number one son is alive and well. He gave a us a scare, but trust me, the boy is back to his normal hi-jinks.
So, my editor Lauren calls me last week to tell me I nailed my revisions! Yayayayayayayay! Of course I have to hand it to her, she made it easy by drawing the map. So I am waiting now on the copy edits. GGGB is officially in production. Whoo hoo!
Some more good news. I found out today that THE HARD STUFF is now listed as a book to buy over at Forbes Book Club. Yes, Forbes as in Forbes magazine. Muy cool.
I took my mother-in-law and my two girls to dinner and a show last night. The show, Nights of Fire featuring Roni Benise was awesome. I’m listening to the CD right now .Incredible. Check out the tour schedule and if he’s coming anywhere near you the show is so worth the drive and money.
Over at Murder She Writes we ladies of murder and mayhem are going to write a book online. :typing: We need reader input to develop characters, plot and setting, so go over and make some suggestions so we can start writing it. Once we nail the important bullet points we’ll begin to write it, kind of progressive dinner style. Should be fun, especially when you have 5 very different authors all taking a stab at the story. You never know what twists or turns it can take. Bwahahaha, I can’t wait to mess with everyone.
OK, now, I have to jump off and get to some way over due crits and then back to SKIN.
Oh,and I am definitely going to do a contest here. Edie wants me to have a name the penis contest. Not sure about that, Edie. :helpme:
I’m thinking of a writing contest, maybe best first line. We can all vote. Maybe I’ll limit it to the first 25 entries, and then we can vote down 5, then the next week we’ll add another line, then vote down 5, then another line, each week voting down 5, but adding a line until we get to the top 5. The prize will be substantial. I’ll have to ponder it some more.
Whatcha think?

So, I’m out to dinner tonight with number two daughter celebrating her BF’s b-day and I get a call from my MIL. Ace is history. So, Hubby yahoo’s and I shrug it off. Right now I don’t care. We received a call earlier this evening from Oklahoma. My number one son is in an ER 1700 miles away, and not doing well. I’m on standby to fly out to be with him. While his being away has its advantages it also has its disadvantages. This is an obvious disadvantage. I need to be with my boy and he wants me there and I’m stuck waiting for news from his doctors.
After speaking with his nurse who spent the day with him I just want to cry. This is why in my next life I will only baby sit.
OK, before I get all weird, I’m signing off for the night.

I actually got into a fight with a chick in the ninth grade over Rod Stewart. :pound:You see she said she was going to marry him, and well, I couldn’t let that happen. I kicked her ass and while I wasn’t looking Alana Hamilton snagged him.
Such is life.
So about those idols tonight.
Chris: to me his voice seemed lost until the very end. I was glad to see he didn’t indulge himself tonight.
Paris: Strong performance, and once again, I enjoyed her more mature look. I laughed my ass off when Simon said she sounded like Mini Mouse. She does!
Taylor: I wish he had done better, but he sure finished strong.
Elliott: eh
Kelli: Her performance came across shaky. I was disappointed. She’s been getting stronger every week, and she so could have nailed tonight. I guess she had a case of the nerves. As usual she looked adorable.
Ace: Icky hair do. Too much gel. Someone needs to tell him less is more. Loved the suit though, and his performance was not bad at all.
Katharine: OK I figured out what it is I don’t like about Katharine. It’s not that I find her boring, it’s that she reminds me of Stepford Katie, Franken Tom’s gf (I can’t take credit for the hilarious names, my MSW gals came up with the tags), the one who gave birth today to a Frankenford baby girl.
OK the comparisons aside. Katharine sounded awesome tonight. See? I can be objective.
I predict Elliott is history tomorrow night.
OK, now here comes a mini rant. I am sick and tired of Paula stepping all over Simon’s comments! Can the woman not shut the fuck up? Someone please slap her. :chainsaw: Simon is entitled to his comments, hell he drives the show.
Rant over.
On to other news. I turned in my revision last week on GGGB. Yay! It reads much stronger. Lauren knows her stuff.
I’m also toying with a contest here at THE WRITE LIFE. Something unique, something that won’t require a whole bunch of my time (I have to jump back on SKIN tomorrow) but something with a big prize (I’m thinking a $100 gift certificate to B&N or Borders or something along that line), providing I have a decent response. Any ideas?
Also, I’m donating a wine and chocolate basket complete with a copy of THS and some other delectables to Brenda Novak’s Diabetes fundraiser. Go check it out.
So, thoughts on who gets the boot tomorrow? Thoughts for a contest?
In the meantime,

Hee hee is that a Queen song title or just a really good line?
Anyhoo, Bucky hits the road. I felt bad for him. He’s a good guy. I cried when Kelli’s grandpa and little brother were on.
That’s about it for me tonight, I’m racing down the home stretch of revisions. I will have them to my editor by 8 am Friday NYC time. Then I will relax for the Easter holiday, then back to SKIN, which is complete, but now that I know what Lauren is looking for, I can go back and make heavy revisions and begin resubbng to my CP’s.
I will be soooo glad to join the living this weekend. It’s been an intense two and a half weeks.
Anyone have plans for Easter? Out here the family is getting together over at the country club for brunch. Works for me, I don’t have to cook. Hubby just asked what I was cooking for Easter dinner.Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. I told him nothing, we’ll still be full from brunch. Maybe I’ll cave and make him some egg salad. ![]()
Happy Easter, write on, and I’ll be back.

OK so about tonight. I have mixed feelings about tonight’s performers. Not so much about their actual performances but about the contestants specifically.
My opinions are shifting, and quite frankly I’m surprised at myself. I shouldn’t be. I change my mind about people all of the time. Some opinions however will never change no matter how that person I have the opinion about changes for the good or bad. For me, for the most part, if I don’t like you, it’s rare I change my mind.
So with that, let’s start with Bucky: I never didn’t like the guy. I do like him. I just think he’s goofy and sucks. His song tonight FAT BOTTOM GIRL for me was probably his strongest performance so far. Bucky is a nice guy and while I don’t think he has a snow balls chance in hell of becoming the next American Idol, I wish him well.
Ace: Ok y’all know I, along with millions of other woman on the planet lusted after Ace when he sang FATHER FIGURE. Now? Eh. Yes, he looked good tonight. Problem was and this wasn’t just restricted to just Ace tonight, but the big problem I found with his performance was the music, the beat, the drive of the instruments was far stronger than Ace’s voice. He just couldn’t carry the depth of it. That said, I was very happy not to hear his falsetto. I was glad he stood up to the judges, he did rock for as much as he could up against that incredible score that makes Queen so great.
Kelli Pickler: BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY. Hubby liked her outfit. #2 son wasn’t feeling it. Hubby said she looked like a rocker, #2 son said it was a bad look. Personally I sided with my son. Although, I did like her hair. Now about that performance. It was ballsy as hell.
Chris: Here’s where once I don’t like you, I won’t change my mind. I don’t like Chris. I don’t like his arrogance. Since his elitist smirk a couple of weeks ago, I can’t stand him. Can the guy sing? Yep. Does he have a shot at becoming the next American Idol. Yep, again. I completely agree with Simon’s comment. “Totally indulgent.” And that folks about sums up what Chris thinks of himself
Katharine: One word. BORING. Yes, her vocals were excellent, but I am so tired of Katharine’s boringness.
Elliott: SOMEBODY TO LOVE. Love that song. But as with Ace the score seemed too far above Elliott’s head to give his voice room to shine. Something that powerful needs a Freddy Mercury to carry it. I think Chris could have carried that song.
Taylor: CRAZY LITTLE THING CALLED LOVE. I thought he picked a great song, and while he started off a little rough I thought he carried it. My MIL got a big smile on her face when he opened his mouth and she said, “I love Taylor.” I do too. I love the control he had over his voice. I loved his finish. I love this guy. I’m rooting for him to go all the way, and so is hubby. BTW Simon’s comment shocked me. I think it was Simon who was drunk tonight.
Paris: Ok we all know Paris’ cutesy shtick gets on my nerves. However, I thoroughly enjoyed her mature look and performance of THE SHOW MUST GO ON.
OK, my prediction for tomorrow night? I think Ace had the worse performance tonight, but he does have the hordes of women at his voting beck and call. Hubby thinks it will be Paris.
Hmm, I’m going with Elliott. If I were to second guess myself I’d be putting Ace’s head the chopping block.
Ladies and gents? Your thoughts and predictions?

How quickly the tides change. One minute they love ya, the next they throw you to the lions. Mandisa, Paris and Elliott in the bottom three. Wow. I’m very disappointed that I have to look at Elliott for another week. I was really surprised to see Mandisa go. Did she deserve it? I don’t think so. What I can’t believe it that Bucky is still there! Who is voting for this guy? Ya know, I said I was going to vote last night, and I was, but I forgot. But, I was only going to vote for Taylor and Kelli. So I guess I’m off the hook.
OK, I’m getting a bit tired of these guys not going for broke, for playing it safe. In my most humble opinion, I think Taylor, Chris, and if she continues to grow, Kelli, could be the next AI. But they have to keep on track, pick songs that show off their range and talent. And as my editor at Kensington Hilary Sares says, “Be shameless.”
Thoughts?
K*
Let’s begin with Taylor. I love the song he sang, and I enjoyed Taylor’s rendition. But I think he could have picked something stronger, something that would have really set his vocals apart from the others. Maybe some Travis Tritt. Or maybe a Garth song, like AIN’T GOING DOWN TIL THE SUN COMES UP.
Mandisa: Nope, didn’t like anything about her performance. I completely agree with Simon.
Elliott: Ok, to be fair tonight, I closed my eyes the minute I knew Elliott was going to be on the screen. I kept them closed the entire time he sang and even after –and? I thought he did a great job.
Paris: Eh. I predict she’ll be in the bottom three tomorrow night.
Ace: He needs to stop whining his songs. That said, he wasn’t that awful and his rendition didn’t sound country in the least. But either does Keith Urban’s rendition. BTW, I love Keith Urban. He rocks in concert too.
Kelli: Love this song! & Kelli’s red silk shirt. Oh, and her performance too. She’s racking up points in my book.
Chris: Ok why am I happy he didn’t do Keith proud? I think I’m still miffed over his elitist smirk last week. That so turned me off. I’d like to see him in the bottom three just for some attitude adjustment.
Katharine: I thought she finally sparkled tonight, and showed some moxy. She told Simon too. Touché.
Bucky: OK, so he didn’t do that bad, again. I didn’t know he was married.
Now does Kenny Rodgers look like a poster child for bad plastic surgery or what? I think he and Burt Reynolds have the same guy.
My picks for the bottom three? Paris, Ace and Mandisa. I think Bucky will squeak through again. If Taylor is in the bottom three I will scream.
It’s hard to say who will be gone tomorrow night. My pick is Ace. His sexiness has gone kind of smarmy, and he really doesn’t have much of a range. I’d better go vote now.
Who do y’all think is next to go?
Alison, what are the Vegas odds now?
