Lot’s of great news to share
March 31st, 2006

So other than AI and revisions there has been some good stuff happening to people I care about. First of all my friend and CP Jan Kenny has sold two books to Hilary Sares at Kensington for the Zebra Debut line. Yay! Jan. BTW folks they were both western historicals. They obviously are not dead. My good friend and CP Sharon Long has sold a sexy read, SEDUCING SIMON June ‘06 (Simon = hunky fireman) to Samhain Press, under the name of Maya Banks. My friend and CP Amy Knupp’s UNEXPECTED COMPLICATION, HQ Supers is out next week. Yay, Amy. Love Carey and Devin’s story.
My ubber GF Rae Monet’s most excellent futuristic paranormal BLOOD SQUAD is a Golden Heart finalist. It’s her best work to date and I expect to hear soon her agent has sold it to the highest bidder. My good friend Tawny Weber is now a three time Golden Heart finalist with UNDERCOVER SEDUCTION, a story I am happy to say I had a hand in plotting. Good work Tawny.
New releases over at Murder She Writes, Natalie Collins’ book WIVES and SISTERS is now out in paperback, oh and Nat is running a great contest on her site, go check it out. Allison Brennan’s THE KILL is out. And Jen Apodaca’s THRILLED TO DEATH is now out. And of course Deb’s books are still available.
OK, so that should keep us all reading for awhile.
In the meantime, write on,
K*
oh, PS, today is my parent’s 50th wedding anniversary. Congrats Mom and Dad for hanging in there!

Surprise surprise surprise
March 30th, 2006

OK, so no surprise Lisa is gone. I got a little choked up at her departure. She is such a beautiful, sweet girl. I wish her all the best. Now, would someone tell me why the hell Buckey was not in the bottom three? :chainsaw:
I can’t say I was surprised Ace was there, but I was disappointed. He wasn’t that bad. But Katharine? :wtf: So, basically, I’m hearing from voters, if you fuck up one week you can be gone. OK, so, I guess everyone needs to go for broke very week. Admittedly they all should have been doing it from the get go, but c’mon, everyone has a bad day once in a while. :scratchhead: Still can’t believe Buckey was safe this week, and over Ace, and Katharine…
Thoughts?

Thank God that’s over
March 29th, 2006

What the hell? Tonight was the worst night so far. :puking:
Let’s begin with Lisa: She went for it, and lost.
Kelli: I though she did a cute job-that said, I think she needed to pick a stronger song, looks like the judges agreed.
Ace: DROPS OF JUPITER, sorry, but I liked it, and the scar. I would have liked to have heard him sing something that showed off his range a bit more.
Taylor: Hubby and I both thought it was good. Solid. But, I’m bias when it comes to that whiskey tenor. Also the band/orchestra rocked to that song.
Mandisa: She can sing, but I didn’t care at all for her song choice or the performance.
Chris: WHAT IF. What if he wakes up with a sore throat for screaming that one out and can’t perform next week? And, is it me or is he getting a bit elitist? Big no no in my book. Methinks someone needs to smack the boy down a notch. Oh, wait a minute, Simon did that. Good Simon.
Katharine: Loved the look from the shirt up. Personally I didn’t think it was that great of a performance, sounded to me as if she were yelling the song out and getting pitchy on the high notes. But, what do I know?
Buckey: Loved the song, but not Buckey’s rendition. If he doesn’t go this week, I’m not so sure I can stomach another performance. I know that’s harsh, especially since I think he’s a great guy, just a lousy performer.
Paris: Looked good. I felt like she tried too hard. Hubby liked it, Simon agreed with me.
Elliott: OK, someone needs to tell this guy not to dance. He has no rhythm. I didn’t feel the performance. And if I’m going to be honest, I think I just don’t care much for Elliott.
Thank god it’s over.
OK, opinions? Who hits the road tomorrow night? My prediction: just about any of them.

BTW did I mention my book THE HARD STUFF has officially gone into a second printing? :woot:
Write on,

I’m so excited to announce!
March 28th, 2006

THE HARD STUFF has officially gone back for a second printing!

Kevin is history
March 26th, 2006

as we all know, and to no one’s surprise. My before singing predictions for this week are the following.:either Buckey or Lisa get the boot, unless someone else really screws up. My predictions are not very shocking as I think we’ve all been pretty much in sync as to who will go and when. I think there might be a night coming up in the near future where two get booted. After the two aforementioned go it will get interesting.
So, honestly, is it me or is Paula getting on your nerves? And what up with that dog Randy? He’s become almost as big a marshmallow as Paula. Just don’t get it.
Also, I have received my final revisions on GGGB, and will have my nose to the laptop for the next two weeks. So, even though I am feeling much better, :cheerleader: I won’t be posting much, except for the AI goings ons.
Hell, I do have to post on a few friends and their sales. Hmm I’ll save that for tomorrow.
In the meantime,
Write on,

AI Tuesday
March 22nd, 2006

OK, so AI was interesting tonight. I’ve been a bit under the weather lately and watching tonight really took my mind off not feeling well. So, first of all: Mandisa. she looked gorgeous and sang as good as she looked.
Buckey: I was with Simon 100% tonight (not that I’m usually not), but Buckey Boy is going home.
Paris: Thumbs down for her rendition of FEVER. FEVER one of my favs and she’s too young to carry off such a sultry tune. That said, her vocals were excellent.
Chris: WALK THE LINE, another one of my favs, I love Johnny Cash, grew up to my daddy playing the guitar and singing IF I WERE A CARPENDER. I loved Chris’s soulful rendition.
Katharine: Looked good, sang good, performance was, eh. She’s going to have to crank it up real high to be in the final three.
Taylor: Love this guy. I’m so glad he finally let someone clean up that mop, and his suit was perfect. Barry labeled him a ‘whiskey tenor’, a most befitting tag. I expect to see Taylor in the final three.
Lisa: Lousy outfit, but, she is adorable. Her performance was solid and boring.
Kevin: CL redeemed himself tonight. He done good, for him. He’ll be back next week, unfortunately.
Elliot: not feeling the look, didn’t like the song or the performance. For me his least impressive performance thus far. I totally disagreed with all three judges regarding his performance tonight.
Kelli:First impression, wipe off that heavy makeup. She looked like a little girl gone wild in mommy’s makeup bag. Loved the outfit. I thought she sounded better with Barry-but-she was pretty gutsy to go up to the judges and sing. I thought she finished strongly, and also, sigh, showed her lack of brain matter there in the end during discussion time. I WANT HER TO BE SMARTER!
Ace: Finally! a button up shirt. His singing was a bit pitchy. Ya know, I find myself every time he gets ready to perform, tensing up. I’m afraid he’s going to make a fool out of himself somehow. I can’t really explain it. I don’t want him to look foolish. He was definitely stronger this week. Not, amazing as Paula said. God I just want to smack her sometimes. Ace will be back next week.
So there it is. I’m dying to hear your take.

AI shocker!!!!
March 20th, 2006

OK so I’m a day or two late and a dollar short. :shit:
To say I was shocked Melissa was voted off is a lie. I figured her or Kevin would go this week, definitely both in the bottom three. but ACE!!! Now, c’mon, the man can sing, sorta. OK, he isn’t Chris, Taylor or even Elliott but he beats Chicken Little hands down in the vocal department, and we won’t even go into the sex appeal department. I was shocked Ace was in the bottom three. I guess starting next week I’ll be voting. Lisa? another surprise. I didn’t think her performance was all that good, but, it wasn’t that bad either. Hell, Kevin got more votes then her! That stymies me. Hmm, scratching chin, thinking logically, breaking it down. OK, I see somesing. Vat is there about Lisa that stands out? Nada. Think about it. Lisa is well, safe. My motto, safe = boring, boring= no sales and in Lisa’s case no votes. Now don’t get me wrong. She is an attractive package, very nice, good voice, but not that wow factor. Kevin’s wow factor (if we can even call it that) is his look and his ‘tude. He’s using his Chicken Little tag, his uniqueness to get him further. Lisa will probably go before Kevin now, especially if Kevin has a decent performance this week. He’s unusual and he has all the teeny boppers pulling for him. He has tapped into powerful niche market.
Same applies to writing folks. Safe is boring, push it, dig deep and go unique, you’ll get the votes and the sales.
Ciao for now, write on, and I’ll be back Tuesday night.

AI 3-14
March 15th, 2006

Talk about a lousy first half. Thank God for Katharine, Paris, Taylor and Chris.
Ya know, Simon keeps saying the same damn thing and most of those AI contestants just aren’t listening. Push the envelope, go balls to the walls, don’t play it safe (hey, the same applies to us writers). Geez, I hated listening to Kelli, Melissa, and Kevin. :pound: Even Mandesa let me down. :whip:Ace was, eh. While the judges didn’t think much of him tonight, Buckey surprised me. Rock on dude.
So, my prediction for tomorrow night? Kevin or Melissa.
So, ladies and gents what is your opinion on tonight’s performances?
In the meantime write on,

The final 12!
March 10th, 2006

No real surprises. Since Kevin didn’t get voted off the island tonight, he’ll go next week, same with Melissa. I thought Ayla was adorable when she got the bad news. As a mother I wanted to hug and comfort her, but I can’t feel sorry for her. That girl can do anything if she puts her mind to it. Her parents must be so proud of her.
Going into to tonight, I hadn’t really cared one way or another about Buckey, but watching him standing there tonight next to Gedeon so nervous, I really didn’t want to see him go home. I’m glad he made it to the final 12, even if next week will most likely be his last.
OK, so, next week regardless of their performances Melissa and Kevin for sure will be gone. Unless Buckey kicks it up a notch he’s gone too, and the second to go for the girls? Hmm… I’m going out on a limb here and predicting Paris, unless she has a stellar performance. So? What are your predictions?
OK, now I have to write my blog for Murder She Writes, our theme this week, Pet Peeves in books. The ladies have pretty much covered the gambit, but I think I may have one or two up my sleeve.
Write on,
K*

AI men
March 9th, 2006

The men were sooo much better then the ladies. Personally I didn’t think there were any really bad performances tonight. Not all of them were stellar either. Chris was solid, he has that gritty Richard Marx sound, I must admit, I wanted more from him tonight but he did just fine. Taylor rocked and had a blast. I love his soul. I’d love to see him rock out with a Bob Seager tune. Ace, sigh, the only thing missing from him tonight was (and I’m stealing this from my friend Sharon) my tongue in his ear. Is he too cute or what? His smile reminds me of John Travolta’s. Remember Vinny Barbarino in Welcome Back Kotter? That’s Ace, sans the dumb act.
My husband said, “My, God the guy has an Ace belt buckle!” I said, “So the hell what? If you got it flaunt it.”
I’m sticking to my predictions. Kevin and Will are history after tomorrow night.
Ladies and gents? Predictions?
K*
